Bastei Winter Sunrise

This image was taken last year on an icy cold morning in early December at a viewing plattform not far away from the Berghotel. It shows the rising sun behind the Bastei, the most famous sandstone formation in Saxon Switzerland. Towering needles, spires and buttes, lush green forests and wild canyons, breathtaking overlooks and many many miles of hiking and biking trails. Saxon Switzerland is a an easy to access National Park near our hometown Dresden (Germany) and a great outdoor place for taking a hike, for serious climbing and of course for photography.
